Schuylkill River Trail Expansion

I love the Schuylkill river trail. It’s great to have a space where you can go for a comfortable jog, a brisk bike ride, or even just sit on a bench and watch the river roll by. Needless to say I was very happy to hear about plans of expanding the trail, connecting Locust street to the South Street bridge with an over the water boardwalk. It’s all part of Mayor Nutter’s green initiative, transforming underdeveloped land into accessible green space. This news, coupled with the plans for Penn Park across the river, make for a number of exciting and environmentally friendly developments in Philadelphia. Construction will begin this Summer and is expected to be completed in 2013. You can get more information here.
