Philly Weekend Links: 3/30/2012

Eat your words this weekend! Plus Xfinity Live! and Franklin Square are officially open. Don’t let the rain stop you- Enjoy your weekend, Philly!

  • Edible Book Festival, Sunday April 1, 4-6pm: I’ve been saying for years now- Books would be so much more enjoyable if they were made of cake! Luckily for us all, The Queen Village Art Center is hosting it’s 2nd annual Edible Book Festival, a celebration of baked goods and the written word. Refresments (including edible “books”) are provided, plus a chance to vote for your favorite pastry. Learn more about the event at www.philadelphiacenterforthebook.org.
  • Xfinity Live! Officially opens Friday, 3/30: South Philly’s highly anticipated entertainment and dining district has finally arrived! Featuring several restaurants and bars, (including a HUGE 32 feet HDTV).  A few weeks ago I was able to snap a few photos of Xfinity Live! while I was picking up some Phillies tickets, and now that it’s officially open, it will certainly the place to be before and after every game. Uwishunu has got more of the details.
  • Franklin Square & Square Burger Officially Opened for the Season: Nothing says Summer in Philly like Franklin Square. Located at 6th and Race, the park features a merry-go-round, playground, Philly-themed mini golf course and Stephen Starr’s Square Burger. Never mind the fact that it looks like rain for Saturday and Sunday,  check out Franklin Square! Go to visitphilly.org to learn more.
