Construction Begins on New Pedestrian/Bike Trails in Philadelphia

Some news stories just immediately get you primed for Spring (the 60+ degree weather in early March helps, as well). For me, it’s the Phillies playing their first Spring Training games this weekend, and the addition of four new pedestrian and bike trails coming to the Philadelphia area! Uwishunu.com has got the scoop on several of the new trail extensions, including the Schuylkill boardwalk (pictured right) The Port Richmond Trail along Delaware Avenue, the 58th Street Greenway connectng the Schuylkill River Trail to Southwest Philadelphia and more! (view the full article here).

Philadelphia is continually doing its part to become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the country. And as the weather gets warmer, expect to see more and more bikers out there taking advantage of many of the new bike lanes. So remember, bikers- be courteous! Take advantage of the bike lanes and don’t ride on the sidewalks. And drivers- If you need to merge into the bike lanes be sure to always check your mirrors to see if there are any approaching cyclists. Enoy the beautiful Spring weather, Philly!
