Just a few days ago, we talked about how the fun things to do in Philly on New Years eve. But there’s plenty activities going on today and on New Year’s Day. Here’s what to do in Philly this New Years weekend:
- Mummers Parade, Sunday 1/1/2011: It wouldn’t be New Years Day in Philly without the Mummers Parade. The whole shindig starts at 10am, with performances all over the city. Uwishunu.com has a full list of events.
- R2L New Years Day Brunch, Sunday 1/1/2011: Nothing cures a hangover like an amazing brunch. R2L (located on the 37th floor of 2 Liberty Place) will be serving brunch, including a dessert buffet). Make sure to get a reservation!
- Winter Classic Fan Festival at Citizens Bank Park, 12/31-1/2: Although the Winter Classic isn’t until Monday, CBP and the NHL will be hosting events and activites all weekend, including contests, games and even opening up the ice rink to the public! Learn about all the happenings here

Isn’t the Mummers Parade a two or three day event? Or does it just seem to go on forever??
Ugh, I know. Glad to hear I’m not the only Philadelphian who gets a little sick of the Mummers.
It’s a great tradition but a 18 hours of “O ‘Dem Golden Slippers” plus the indoor show is a little much. A simple sobriety test at the beginning of the parade would cut out 90% of the comic division and shorten the parade considerably.
Happy New Year!!
Haha. Happy New Year to you as well!
